Hi Everyone,
I’ve been writing my head off lately, but I wanted to take a moment out to give you all a sneak peek into book 2 of the Costa Mesa series, Toe the Line. I’ll be submitting books 1 and 2 this Sunday. Fingers crossed that the Manuscript Fairy sprinkles some magic dust on my editor! Here is an exclusive excerpt, and beautiful artwork done by Bianca Duarte of Piper and Jack in this scene. If I hear some good news about the series in a month or so, I’ll have another little treat for you, so stick around! Chicks Dig the Accent comes out on August 23rd!
To set up the excerpt below, each of the three books in the series are holiday themed. This book takes place in California at Christmastime. đ
Excerpt:
âIâll do my best to set you straight.â He glanced at her. She stood in the sun, and her hair lifted with the breeze. That wicked, wide mouth of hers set his imagination into overdrive. He crooked a finger at her. âCâmere. Youâre in command.â
She pursed her lips and sashayed toward him with a confident prowl. âOoh, I like being in command. Itâs sexy.â
âYouâre sexy.â He brought both her hands up to the varnished wheel. Â âStay right there,â he breathed in her ear. He reached past her and switched the radio to CD mode. He selected a track, and âLet It Snowâ began to play. âHang on,â he said. He flipped on a light switch on an adjacent wall, and colorful fairy lights atop the boat and all around the helm lit up.
âOh, how cute-â
âWait for it,â he cautioned. He took a small, flat remote control from his pocket and hit a button. Piper looked around, but didnât notice anything. Then a snowflake landed on her nose, followed by several more, until thick, white flakes fell through the open sunroof. She grinned like a loon, but she couldnât help it. She shook her head fondly.
âSunshine and snow⊠Jack Spencer, youâre a romantic.â
âIâm a crusty old sea dog. I have no idea what youâre even talking about,â he said dryly.
Piper wiped a snowflake off her face and laughed as the holiday jingle serenaded them. âRight.â
He gave her that sexy, wolfish grin. Piper sighed and leaned into him.
