Chicks Dig the Accent – Exclusive Preview

3 min read

As I’m finishing up this novella for the Summer Tropes submission, Chicks Dig the Accent, I thought I’d give everyone a sneak peek into the cast of characters and the music behind it. CDTA is a fun, comedic erotic modern-day fairy tale about finding the right guy in the most awkward of circumstances, loosely based on Cinderella. Once it’s approved for publication, I’ll have a blurb and more to share with you all, but here is a brief glimpse. Enjoy:

Exclusive Excerpt:

“Girl, this is screwed the hell up.”

“I know.” Molly reached for the bottle of wine to refill her glass, but Nell’s slim brown fingers covered her own, solemnly.

“No, Moll. This is an emergency. You don’t need no wine. You need the Vicodin of all movies. You need Patrick Swayze.”

And that is how their Veg Fest began. Not counting the calories later and well into the night, they sat on the floor, tipsy and giggling with a feast of pizza boxes and junk food spread out before them, watching as Jennifer Grey was told not to put her heel down. At some point, Molly’d kicked off her slacks and unbuttoned the top button of her blouse as they vegged. She sat there with her bare legs extended, munching on popcorn as “Hungry Eyes” began its synthetic keyboard and drums. Nell insisted on re-watching and slow-playing the scene where Patrick Swayze traced his finger down “Baby’s” armpit when he taught her to dance.

“He should have been bronzed,” Nell muttered. “Look at that man. Look at him. This movie is my soft porn.”

Molly threw popcorn at her and snorted. “Nell!”

“I bet Jorge can do the lift, like where he lifts her at the end. What do you think he’d do if I tried that move with him?” she ruminated as they watched Jennifer Grey burst into a fit of giggles again, before giving a smoldering look as Patrick Swayze trailed his finger down her arm.

“He’d nail you. That’s assuming he’s not gay.”

“He’s not gay.”

“Yeah, but how do you know?” Molly knew in her wine-befuddled brain that she was talking way too loud, but she didn’t care. She felt great!

“I told you, he’s not. My gaydar didn’t go off. I’d still do him even if he was, though. That man is one hot tamale.”

“Well, if he turns out to be, we can always hook him up with Jean Luc.”

“Sounds good to me.” Nell raised her glass. “To Jorge.”

“To Jorge. And his amazing glutes!” They clinked glasses, and Molly felt decidedly better.

The front door opened, and Evan appeared, wiping his eyes sleepily. “Do you guys realize how loud you’re being? Oh my God, tell me you’re not watching Dirty Dancing.”
